Best homemade food in Kuzguncuk
Homemade food is all over Istanbul, but good homemade food actually isn’t that easy to find. A real food expert who lives in Kuzguncuk recommended one tiny restaurant in her neighbourhood, and it simply couldn’t have gone wrong.
The restaurant’s name is Hatice Anne Ev Yemekleri.
The name already suggests something yummy. And yes indeed, the little restaurant is run by mother (the cook) and her son (service). A very sweet family business in this case, with very tasty outcomes.
The place already has a strong tradition among its neighbours who run into their little shop at all times of the day for what they already know will be a nice treat for a small amount of money.
Food with different kinds of meat, manti, vegetarian cold and warm options, and a variety of sweets and jams is available. Most of “regular” meals are there, but the love and craft put into each meal can be instantly felt.
I especially loved their “sarma“. It’s something you can eat almost everywhere, but not that many places know how to give it that extra something that keeps you coming back for more.
The place is very small, probably not more than 5-6 people could fit in. This adds to its special charm and makes you feel even more at home. Of course, a take-away is always an option.
I would have missed this little place if it wasn’t for the friend’s recommendation. It is on the main road, very close to the Kuzguncuk pier.
And mind you, this could easily be one of the best little corners of Kuzguncuk, both for its quality, service and atmosphere too! A perfect little fit in the sweet little neighbourhood that has its well kept secrets.
To top it off, whatever you order from Hatice Anne, you will get it with a big smile.
